Kryptomon is excited to announce the official integration of Chainlink Verifiable Random Function (VRF) on the BNB Chain mainnet. By integrating the industry-leading decentralized oracle network, Kryptomon has leveraged a tamper-proof and auditable source of randomness that helps guarantee an unbiased selection of winners in its weekly lucky draw. Ultimately this creates a more exciting and transparent user experience, as users can rest easy knowing that Chainlink VRF helps ensure each user has a fair chance in the lucky draws.

Often described as “the living NFT game” where the best of Pokemon meets Tamagotchi, Kryptomon has taken the blockchain gaming space by storm with its consistent output of quality content as well as its powerful collaborations and partnerships. From the monthly “Walk-To-Earn” mobile Treasure Hunt events to its recently launched NFT Breeding and P&E Questing update, it’s no wonder that the Kyptomon community is seeing a surge in growth.

However, the Kryptomon team has made no secret of its vision to allow for any gamer to become a Kryptomon trainer. This is in part accomplished by its weekly lucky draws, where winners can walk away with in-game items and, if they’re really lucky, their very own Kryptomon egg.

In order to help ensure winners are truly chosen at random, access to a secure random number generator (RNG) that any user could independently audit is required. However, RNG solutions for smart contracts require several security considerations to prevent manipulation and ensure system integrity. For instance, RNG solutions derived from blockchain data like block hashes can be exploited by miners/validators, while off-chain RNG solutions derived from off-chain APIs are opaque and don’t provide users with definitive proof about the integrity of the process.

Enter Chainlink VRF. Because it is based on cutting-edge academic research, supported by a time-tested oracle network, and secured through the generation and on-chain verification of cryptographic proofs that prove the integrity of each random number supplied to smart contracts, it is little wonder that the Kryptomon team chose Chainlink VRF as its preferred RNG.

Chainlink VRF works by combining block data that is still unknown when the request is made with the oracle node’s pre-committed private key to generate both a random number and a cryptographic proof. The Kryptomon smart contract will only accept the random number input if it has valid cryptographic proof, and the cryptographic proof can only be generated if the VRF process is tamper-proof. This provides users with automated and verifiable assurances directly on-chain that the selection of Kryptomon lucky draw winners is provably fair and was not tampered with by the oracle, outside entities, or the Kryptomon team.

With the new Chainlink VRF integration in place, Kryptomon expects to continue exploring opportunities that leverage other trust-minimized services from Chainlink for enhanced functionality, including the potential to automate the lucky draw using Chainlink Keepers — a hyper-reliable smart contract automation service.

“Chainlink VRF helps create a level playing field for Kryptomon’s lucky draws, which is something that is important both to our team and also our rapidly growing community. Anyone can verify the on-chain randomness to independently check that lucky draws were fair, and this level of transparency is simply unparalleled in the blockchain space.” Umberto Canessa Cerchi, Kryptomon Founder and CEO.

About Kryptomon

Kryptomon is an NFT Play-and-Earn blockchain game, where Pokémon meets Tamagotchi and CryptoKitties.

Breed, Train and Fight with your NFT Kryptomon. It’s a new world where trainers can live a new adventure on Blockchain.

Set in the Kryptomon metaverse, community members play as ‘Trainers’ of their own individual monsters — Kryptomons — each of which is a completely unique digital asset connected to an NFT. Each has a unique but mutable genetic code made up of 38 randomized parameters that determine all of the aspects — physical and behavioral — of the creature.

This not only ensures that each Kryptomon is unique but also brings to life each Kryptomon as a digital companion in the Kryptomon metaverse. They are capable of learning, falling sick, getting hungry, and protecting their trainers when out on an adventure in the physical world. In turn, trainers will have to care for, feed, and train their Kryptomon partners in order to grow and prepare for the battles ahead.

Kryptomon creates the next step in the evolution of crypto-gaming by using advanced blockchain technologies, digital genetics, and location-based technologies.

So what are you waiting for?

Play and participate in the Kryptomon league to become the Kryptomon Metaverse Champion!

It’s amazing what an effective marketing campaign can do to sway public opinion. Even if you’ve been living under a rock, by now you’ve likely seen the big, fancy demonstrations the Keystone Group have been hosting almost every week.

It’s almost become somewhat of a show at this point. The big stage and swirly lights, the epic music and over excitable hosts who extoll the benefits of Dark Kryptomon. Listening to them you’d think Dark Kryptomons are the closest we’re ever going to get to a real life Iron Man — Protector of the weak and capable of ensuring the safety and security of your nation.

But I know better. And while the Keystone Group are doing everything they can to suppress the news, we were there that day. We SAW what really went down during the Dark Arena Brawl. And the public deserves to know the truth.

Dark Kryptomon are dangerous.

Dark Kryptomons are beings of unimaginable, overwhelming power. The finals that day were between two of the strongest trainers in the world, and yet, it was terrifying just how easily the Dark Kryptomons bested both of them.

Just how did they obtain that kind of power? What is this “Dark” element that somehow only Keystone has access to? And since it’s not a naturally occurring element, what exactly is the price of using this Dark power? It’s clear that the Keystone Group are doing something to Kryptomons, though no one dares ask what to avoid offending them and losing their “shipment” of Dark Kryptomons.

Because make no mistake — Dark Kryptomons have just overturned the global power dynamic. No country can afford not having a battalion of Dark Kryptomons on standby, and with Keystone having sole monopoly over the production of Dark Kryptomons…

It’s no exaggeration to say that the Keystone Group now hold the lives of all 7 billion people on Earth in the palm of their hands. Profits are one thing, but what’s stopping Keystone from one day setting its sights on a much more… dangerous goal?

So please, if you’re reading this, don’t fall for the glitz and the glamour Keystone are attempting to distract you with. I’ve no doubt Keystone will shut this article down the moment they hear of it, so tell your friends and share this with your family while you can.

The public deserves to know the truth. Keystone must be stopped.

Devs Log #2 | Physital: Bridging Two World Assets

Leading the charge into “phygital” wearables, Davide Matteazzi, Kryptomon’s Chief Merchandising Officer, brings a wealth of experience from his time at various global fashion brands including Diesel and Calvin Klein Jeans. “Digital wearables have a bright future and show a clear path for NFT longevity,” says Matteazzi. Our second edition of Devs Log brings into the spotlight one of the key figures that developed the soon-to-be-released “Physital NFT” collection.

Hi Davide, can you please introduce yourself?

Hi, I am Davide Matteazzi, I am Italian and a happy husband and father of two fantastic kids.I joined Kryptomon’s leadership team in May 2022 with the ambition to develop modern merchandising which merges physical merchandise with digital NFT in-game utility and metaverse wearables.I have been working in merchandising leadership roles in global fashion brands such as Diesel and Calvin Klein for almost 20 years. In the last few months, fashion brands started to look into the Metaverse, and “NFT” became the new “trend”. It was time for me to go out of “my comfort zone” and I decided to challenge myself and be an early adopter of the Web.3 revolution. I met the passionate Kryptomon team and I decided to embrace the project as I strongly believe in its potential; there is a massive opportunity for blockchain gaming to ride the upward momentum of wearable and link it with utility for their in-game audiences to create value for the pieces beyond simple merchandising.

Can you explain what “Physital” means?

As you know, the terminology “phygital” is becoming part of our daily vocabulary when we are talking about a combination of physical and digital objects, mainly done by fashion companies with the ambition to embrace the digital world. With the launch of the “NFT Hunter Club’’, we aim to be the first blockchain gaming company to merge our digital world with physical elements in a very impactful and meaningful way, and for that reason, we decided to introduce the naming “Physital”.

How did the term Physital come to life?

When I started my experience in Kryptomon last May, I started to study the approach of fashion brands entering the blockchain planet. Then, with the team, we decided to work on an innovative project where every single NFT element has an in-game utility. The “NFT Hunter Club” is an exclusive “members only” club, with the focus of connecting the digital and physical world by incorporating 3 elements:1. Digital collectible items2. Limited edition physical goods3. In-game NFT items that boost your gaming experience.

What is the difference between Physital and Phygital?

Good question… with “Physital” we aim to build a new chapter of the Phygital projects. Physital starts from a blockchain gaming company that enters into the physical world with a utility in the NFT items developed.

Will the merch always be tied to a digital counterpart?

This is just our first merchandising project.Kryptomon is a gaming company and our ambition is to create the best blockchain game as we are true believers that NFT and tokens are gonna be the biggest evolution in the gaming space for years. We want our players to enjoy Kryptomon games. At the same time, we believe it is key to make Kryptomon an impactful brand, and merchandising is one of the pillars to do that, together with partnerships and collaborations. We aim to create modern merchandising which involves our community and, indeed, it will be mainly tied to a digital counterpart with a utility towards the game.We have the opportunity to explore, test, and build something new… happy to receive any input.

Will there be more Physital NFTs in the future?

Absolutely yes, we aim to work on other unexpected projects… stay tuned!

Why should we be excited about the Binance NFT Sale?

The “Physital NFT” collection is a pioneering project as it is one of the first of its kind, we are sure it will be seen as a benchmark for several companies.Since its announcement, several media outlets all over the world have already shown their interest in the project and are looking forward to the sale and its results.Content-wise, we built a very rich product, a mystery box that includes several physical and digital collectible items. The Mystery Box sale will be conducted on a first-come-first-serve basis over four different rounds and will last until the items run out of stock. The main sale will take place on the Binance NFT marketplace exclusively on the 9th of September at 11:00 UTC. Meanwhile, the secondary sale will take place on Kryptomon’s own marketplace on the Kryptomon website shortly after, in an exclusive sale that will happen in three rounds. For more information visit the official site:https://www.kryptomon.co/hunter

His bright yellow hair partially hidden by a hat, a lone figure in a white lab coat strode purposefully down the brightly lit, but much less crowded corridors of the Keystone arena.

Stay calm, look like you belong. Look like you belong.” muttered Koa to himself as he strode past two guards while nodding cordially to them. The guards merely grunted in response, barely giving Koa a second look. This was a new lab after all, with hundreds of scientists in similar coats entering and exiting throughout the day.

Koa, Eva and Kyros had just arrived at the newly popular Keystone Arena. Kyros quickly took off to sort out his registration while Eva mentioned something about meeting an old friend, which left Koa all by himself. Not one to waste any time, Koa set out to see if there was any way he’d be able to find clues as to why a Keystone truck would be at the lab the night of the fire.

It didn’t take long to realize there was a separate area cordoned off solely for member of the Keystone Group. Fortunately for Koa, scientists in white lab coats were constantly scurrying in and out of the entrance, which was how Koa found himself in his current situation.

Fortune must favor the brave, as Koa quickly located a door with the words “Records Room” printed in large bold letters. If there was going to be anywhere that had information on Embie’s whereabout, this was it. Everything else could wait, the mission was, and always has been about finding Embie.

Slipping in was a piece of cake, solely because of the fact that the door wasn’t locked. Perhaps security never expected that anyone would be able to get this far into the restricted area without being caught. However, what Koa saw immediately afterwards astounded him.

It wasn’t the sheer volume of information contained within this room, nor was it the even fact that the room that potentially contained the results of all Keystone’s secret research was left completely unguarded. Instead, it was the rows and rows of metal cabinets packed to the brim with handwritten files that had Koa staring on in disbelief.

Keystone, the largest conglomerate in the world that didn’t so much as bat an eye when forking out ridiculous sums to have this arena built still relied on a manual filing system?

You’ve got to be kidding me. What is this, the 90s?” muttered Koa as he wandered helplessly through the rows of cabinets. “What happened to Google Drive? Or Sharepoint? How in the world does anyone find anything in this chaos?

At a loss as to how he’d begin to locate find the information he needed, Koa pulled open several cabinets at random but was quickly left dismayed at the sheer impossibility of the task.

… telling you, gotta be in there somewhere”. Voices drifted closer, startling Koa and giving him but a few seconds to slip around a metal cabinet to avoid being spotted.

I’ve seen that brat skulking about here like a little rat. Think he’s better than us just because daddy’s money is all that.” a man in the typical Keystone guard uniform said as he entered the room.

He’s a pain, but how does that help us in finding Jesus?” his partner replied. “I doubt Pound would have told Elias anything about us. To him we’re just another employee, another small cog in the Keystone wheel.”

Everything that goes on in Keystone is right here in these files. They moved the storage over to the arena since the main building was getting hit with audits left and right” replied the man. “If there’s any record of where Charles is hiding him, it’ll be here.

His heart beating furiously in his chest, Koa moved as quietly as he possible could to circle the guards as they wandered amongst the aisles just as he had earlier. He could not afford to be caught, and thankfully the room was both large and dark enough that he’d remain hidden as long as was careful.

15 minutes pass and to Koa’s dismay, another guard popped his head into the room. Dodging two guards was hard enough but any more and there wouldn’t be anywhere left to hide!

Carmen! Javier! Lunch break is over, Mr Pound is asking for the two of you” shouted the guard. “What the hell did you two do to get him to request for you specifically?

Damn it…” Koa heard the female guard mutter as they rushed out of the room, finally leaving Koa alone in the dark room.

Never again, I’m way too old for all this sneaking around” muttered Koa some time later as he strode out of the restricted area, his face once again partially covered by the hat.

Next time Eva can do it. Or maybe Lise. Can finally do something useful for once instead of spending all her time in the lab filming for that stupid Instagram account of hers.

The Three Musketeers

Hey nerd! Come look at this!

Eva grinned as Koa looked up from his research, completely unperturbed at the nickname Kyros still used for him.

This was the “Father of Kryptomon”, the man who now stood at the apex of Kryptomon research. With Kryptomons capturing the hearts of many and quickly becoming the hottest new trend, it wasn’t long before Koa was featured on many a publication and invited as a guest onto popular talk shows that were televised to millions all around the world.

And yet, the man who had to turn down an invitation from Oprah had not changed one whit. Watching Koa shuffle over to Kyros and quickly becoming engrossed in the email on the screen, Eva’s smile only grew wider as she was convinced that their friendship would never change.

A New Puzzle Piece

Just think what this could mean!” Kyros exclaimed excitedly. “This could be the missing link we needed to bust this mystery right open.

Koa dropped into the nearby chair, his calm expression failing to hide the excitement in his eyes as he processed the new information. “We don’t know what it means yet, or even if it has enough in parallel with modern languages that the linguists could try and understand it.”

But you have to admit, this and the murals are definitive proof that humans before us must have known about Kryptomons!” Kyros shot back, his enthusiasm not waned the slightest.

About to nod, Koa paused as the wider implications of it all began to settle in. His smile disappeared, replaced by a grim frown as he looked back at the email still on Kyros’s screen.

The more important question is — If Kryptomons really existed hundreds of years ago, why isn’t there a single known record about them before we discovered that ruin?

Kryptomon — Koa’s Log #1

Day #72 after the incident

It’s. Alive.

I don’t know why we were so surprised. Nobody recognized it at first but now that we’ve had more time to study them, all 10,000 of them are clearly in the shape of eggs. We just never thought something so… foreign would behave like something so mundane, just like the eggs that we see and eat everyday.

It’s been some time since we found the eggs. Was it by design or by chance that there were exactly 10,000 eggs? Is there a significance to this number? And how did something as huge as that just… disappear? Too much has happened lately that challenge everything we thought we knew about the world.

There’s so much we don’t know, but one thing is for certain. These eggs hold something never before seen on Earth, how else would you explain the variety in the different eggs? Some are bone chillingly cold while others are scalding hot. Even the structural integrity and material of the shells vary from a smooth diamond hard to a pliant earthy texture.

Tests will have to be run and we should have preliminary results shortly. We often watch movies of Iron Man and the Avengers, of demi gods and visitors from beyond our world. This might be our proof that alien life really does exist.

To ensure we have eyes on the tests at all times, surveillance footage of the lab has been set up to run 24/7. No matter what happens, we’ll catch it.

Kryptomon — Bringing Crypto to the Masses

What. A. Week!!

The past couple of days have been an absolute whirlwind of activity with the community sale and IDO taking place. A massive thank you to all of our partners and advisors who were working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure everything ran smoothly. 🙏 Of course, we can’t forget about the overwhelming amount of support from all of our trainers, which saw the price of $KMON soaring from $0.006 and eventually settling at its current (at time of writing) price of $0.075.

With the IDO milestone complete, it’s time to turn our attention back to what attracted all of you to Kryptomon in the first place — the game! We also discuss below how our new partnership with Simplex will pave the way in catapulting Kryptomon into mainstream media.

                                                                                                                            .  .  .

The Problem with the Crypto Gaming Space

The crypto gaming space is gaining traction in the market, of that there is no doubt. With games like Axie Infinity now giving people the ability to earn a living and even save up enough money for a house in the Philippines, more and more people, regardless of their proficiency in the crypto space, are starting to realize that crypto gaming is a phenomenon that is here to stay.

Untapped Potential

At time of writing, it is estimated that there are approximately 41.9 million gamers in the crypto space. While that sounds like a large number, what if I told you that the current (non crypto) gaming industry estimates that there are roughly 2.5 billion gamers in the world? In 2019, Fortnite alone had 250 million registered users, 5x the number of gamers in the entire crypto space!

The crypto space has only tapped into 1.68% of potential gamers worldwide.

This would mean that crypto games have only tapped into 1.68% of potential gamers worldwide. Let that sink it for a little bit. A full 98% of all the gamers in the world have either:

  • Never heard of crypto games
  • Are worried and don’t feel confident in jumping into the crypto and crypto gaming space
  • Want to give crypto gaming a try, but have no idea how to go about doing it.

Getting Started is a Complex Process

Going back to what we’ve just said about Axie Infinity and the crypto market boom in general, it’s highly unlikely that the first case is true. And while it is very possible that a portion of gamers belong to the second category in how they’ve heard about the volatility of the crypto markets and aren’t looking to expand into crypto gaming any time soon, it’s more likely that a significant portion of these 98% gamers just don’t have the knowledge on how they can get set up and get started playing crypto games.

This was our experience as well, not just when introducing new trainers in Discord to Kryptomon, but also in our personal lives where we had to explain to our friends and family how to:

  • Set up Metamask
  • Explain what a wallet address is
  • Configure Metamask to use the Binance Smart Chain
  • Create a Binance Account
  • Buy some BNB
  • Transfer BNB over to your Metamask
  • Explain what gas fees are and why they fluctuate
  • How to use PancakeSwap to convert BNB to KMON

… the list goes on!

For some of the more seasoned veterans in the crypto space, this might seem like common knowledge. But for an 18 year old kid who just happened to see an ad of Kryptomon and his 56 year old mom and dad who’ve never used Binance before? All of the above is gibberish.

                                                                                                                            .  .  .

A New Partner — Simplex

On their website, Simplex is described as “A licensed financial institution which empowers its vast network of partners to accept the widest range of payment methods, including Visa, MasterCard, Apple Pay, SWIFT, SEPA, and more!” But for the crypto veterans out there that didn’t immediately recognize the name, here’s a quick reminder: Simplex is the company that provides a fiat-to-crypto gateway on Binance!

Using Simplex, one can purchase over 90+ cryptocurrencies using over 50 different fiat currencies. It’s not surprising that they’ve now integrated and provided services to over 350 partners in the world.

The full list of large and well known companies that utilizes Simplex’s services are is too numerous to list… but we’ve listed a few of their partners aside from Binance that you might just recognize: 😉

  • TrustWallet
  • Poloniex
  • Trezor
  • MyEtherWallet
  • KuCoin

and many more. For more information about Simplex partners, check out this link.

Kryptomon For The Masses with Simplex

This is where Kryptomon has a unique competitive advantage over the many crypto games out there. Our target audience isn’t just the 41.9 million crypto gamers, but all 2.5 billion gamers in the world. From every 18 year old who will pick up the easy to understand gameplay to all the 80’s kids feeling nostalgic for a little bit more of the Pokemon magic, Kryptomon wants YOU.

The first step in realizing that dream is to get rid of that complex 8 step process described above just to buy $KMON, and this new partnership with Simplex will allow us to do precisely that!

In the future, this means that just about anyone with a smartphone (yes, including that 18 year old kid with his 56 year old mom and dad) will be able to download the Kryptomon game onto their phone, which will come pre-loaded with a crypto wallet capable of storing $KMON. Via Simplex, they’ll be able to key in their debit/credit card details and purchase $KMON with fiat instantly, just like how you can purchase in game currency today with games like Clash of Clans or PUBG!

“We are thrilled to partner with Kryptomon to enable seamless and secure $KMON onramps for billions of gamers, globally”, — said Ari Last, VP Business Development at Simplex.

                                                                                                                            .  .  .

Final Thoughts 💭

From the start, Kryptomon has always been a game that we intended to bring to the general public. With the IDO now behind us, developmental focus has shifted back into making the game the best possible version of itself before the Phase 1 launch.

That doesn’t mean we aren’t already planning for the future and with industry titans like Simplex standing behind Kryptomon, it really will be an exciting journey to see just where Kryptomon will end up in a year’s time.

2.5 billion gamers, we’re coming for you!

Signing off for now. 😉

Kryptomon — Egg Lottery Winners

Hello trainers, welcome back to the wonderful world of Kryptomon. We’ve had plenty of big announcements lately, with our new game studio partner Room8 Studios and being the first NFT game to partner with Simplex. And we’re not done!

Our older trainers will remember that back on the 9th of August 2021, we launched an egg lottery event that would distribute 100 of the eggs that went unclaimed during the initial 10k giveaway to more deserving members of the community. It’s been just under 3 weeks and we’re excited to announce that the results are out!

                                                                                                                            .  .  .

Egg Lottery

We saw an overwhelming amount of support from our trainers. Just under 20,000 trainers participated in the lottery, spread out across 80 different geographical locations around the world. It’s amazing and heartening to think that Kryptomon is now a name that is known around the world.

Unfortunately, we only had 100 eggs to give away in this campaign. The selection process was randomized so…

Winners

Congratulations to all 100 of the lucky winners of the egg lottery campaign! The winning addresses will be listed down below so use CTRL + F to check if you’ve won. Also, winners will receive an email from Professor Koa announcing the fact, so make sure you check your emails!

As an added bonus, we’ve decided to airdrop the eggs to you for free! As thanks to the amazing community who’ve supported us throughout our journey, the Kryptomon team will shoulder the gas fees so trainers can just sit back, relax and wait for your eggs to show up in your wallet.

Gen 0 trainer

A final shoutout to one lucky trainer who received the rarest Gen 0 egg! Only 100 of them will ever exist in the Kryptomon universe. The only question is, were you the trainer that received it? 😉

                                                                                                                            .  .  .

Closing Thoughts

Today, 20,000 trainers participated in the egg lottery. But we’re not done yet! In fact, we’re just getting started. 20,000 is where we are today, but as we mentioned before in this article, our goal is the full 2.5 billion gamers in the world.

As an old Chinese proverb would have it: “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”. We might come from humble beginnings, but this will be Kryptomon’s first step towards all the gamers in the world.

2.5 billion soon-to-be trainers, we’re coming for you!

                                                                                                                            .  .  .

Kryptomon — Staking your $KMON

Hello trainers, welcome back to the wonderful world of Kryptomon. For those who tuned into our last Founders Talk session on Discord, you’ll know that our devs have been hard at work getting everything ready for the much anticipated $KMON staking feature. (No really, our devs can’t remember the last time they’ve taken a weekend off!)

Staking will begin on the 10th of September 2021, and this article will dive into everything you need to know about our newest feature. Before we hop into all the staking details though, for those of you who haven’t already joined us on Discord and Telegram, you might have missed out on these little gems.

Draft Designs from Room8 Studios

Remember that these are drafts that we’re working on with Room8 Studios, so they’re still subject to change. However, it’s important to recognize that what Room8 Studios have achieved a mere 2 and a half weeks in is nothing short of astounding and we’ll continue to share updates of our progress on our social media channels. So if you haven’t already, make sure to come join us on Telegram, Twitter and Discord!

The Eight Week Egg Lottery Campaign

To be more precise, on the 10th of September 2021 we’ll be launching the first of eight, 1 week long egg lotteries where trainers stand to win Kryptomon eggs!

Every week, a number of Kryptomon eggs will be up for grabs and we can confirm that there is a small chance you could even be the lucky winner of a Gen 0 egg! There are only 2 Gen 0 eggs up for grabs in the entire campaign and no one, not even the Kryptomon team can guarantee when or if they’ll be won.

To participate in the lottery, trainers will be required to stake their $KMON on the Kryptomon website in order to earn lottery tickets that can then be used in the lottery. There is no minimum amount required to participate so trainers could potentially just stake just one $KMON, earn and bet one ticket and still walk away a winner! 🎉

                                                                                                                            .  .  .

Our Rationale for the Egg Lotteries

Most staking pools out there today reward participants with the project’s native token. Stake CAKE for CAKE for example is a pool that works very well for PancakeSwap, but is that really what Kryptomon needs right now? 👀

At present we’re still a little way away from trainers being able to use your $KMON in game, which means creating a stake $KMON for $KMON pool would just result in trainers being able to grow their bag of $KMON in preparation for the game launch with no immediate benefit. Another possible scenario is that the growing amount of $KMON in circulation would just lead to stronger sell pressure, which we’re sure is not something any of our trainers would like to see.

The question was therefore: What can we offer with the new staking feature that would benefit both the game and our trainers the most?

Kryptomon Eggs?

After the success of our previous egg lottery campaign, we realized that we had severely underestimated how fast the Kryptomon community is growing and just how strong the demand is for eggs. There are currently approximately 6,000 Kryptomon eggs being traded and held amongst 33,000 odd trainers (if Discord is to be any guide).

While we do realize the importance of keeping supply scarce enough to ensure our eggs have value, as a blockchain game, it’s also important that we have enough players. What we don’t want to see happening is all 27,000 trainers (33,000–6000) without an egg losing interest and leaving the Kryptomon family due to the cost associated with getting your first Kryptomon.

It is for this reason that we’ve decided to create a staking feature that will allow lucky trainers to win the chance to become a Kryptomon trainer every week for 8 weeks. We believe we’ve found an ideal balance between keeping trainers engaged and also leaving plenty of demand for eggs when breeding is released.

Where are these eggs coming from?

As with the previous egg lottery, all eggs that will be used as prizes for this lottery come from the original 10,000 batch of airdropped eggs that went unclaimed and the 40,000 egg sale batch that weren’t purchased. The total supply of eggs has not changed, and we are once again simply redistributing them back to more deserving members of the community. 😉

                                                                                                                            .  .  .

Egg Lotteries… With A Twist

With all of that said, we’ve also included a few little twists in the lottery to make things more interesting, strategic and just a little bit more fun. Here are a couple of things you’ll want to consider when playing the lottery:

Staking Gives You Lottery Tickets

Staking $KMON rewards participants with tickets. The more $KMON you stake, the more tickets you earn. Each ticket is one entry into the current week’s lottery so by the simple law of probability, the more tickets you have in the current week’s lottery the higher your chances of actually winning an egg.

“But what about whales? They’ll just stake 500,000 $KMON and almost guarantee themselves a win!”, I hear you thinking to yourself. Well, you’re not wrong, but! We’ve put in place several safeguards to make sure everyone isn’t priced out by large $KMON whales.

Trainers Decide the Number of Eggs Up for Grabs

The Kryptomon team have, after much discussion, agreed upon a “budget” of eggs that will go into the lotteries, which includes the 2 Gen 0 eggs that were mentioned above. This doesn’t mean however, that all eggs will be won!

Trainers will decide how many eggs are up for grabs in the lottery each week by staking $KMON. At the end of every week, the code will determine the number of unique players who’ve bet tickets in that week’s lottery and only 10% will win. That means if there are 200 players in Week 1, there will only be 20 eggs released from the budget, one for each winner!

Let’s assume that the budget is 1000 eggs (we’re intentionally not releasing the actual number of eggs in our budget). This means that it’s very possible we get to the end of Week 8, and not all 1000 eggs in the budget have been won simply because there weren’t enough players. Alternatively, its also very possible that the lottery is wildly popular and we run out of eggs by Week 5! 🙀 If that’s the case, the egg lottery campaign ends immediately.

Tickets Can Be Used… or Saved

To add a little more strategy into the lottery, tickets that you get from staking your $KMON aren’t locked to a lottery in a particular week. That means you can start staking your $KMON from week 1, save up all your tickets and choose not participate in any lotteries for 4 weeks but spend all your tickets in the Week 5 lottery!

This allows smaller trainers to have a much higher chance of winning an egg… if they pick the right week to participate. 😉 It’ll be up to the trainers to do their research, be active on Discord and Telegram etc to figure out what the overall sentiment is.

It’s important to note however, that tickets are burnt once used regardless of whether you win or lose!

Winners Win Only Once

To prevent a large whale from just staking 500,000 $KMON, betting all the tickets and winning every egg every week, we’ve implemented a rule that every unique wallet address can only win once per lottery. So the whale could theoretically “almost” guarantee himself a win by betting 500,000 tickets every single week, but he’d only receive one egg.

The code will then choose the remaining winners from other wallet addresses while the whale’s 499,999 remaining tickets are ignored.

Chainlink Integration for Guaranteed Randomness

Finally. to ensure there is no bias in the lottery and that winners are truly selected randomly, we’ve integrated the Chainlink VRF feature into our lottery system. Nobody, not even a member of the Kryptomon team will be able to influence the lottery in any way and guarantee someone a win.

A Step by Step Guide… with Pictures!

The process of staking your $KMON and participating in the lottery is quite simple. Simply head on over to our website where we’ll soon be releasing a dedicated staking page, choose an amount of $KMON to stake and you’re done!

Step 1 — Select the amount of $KMON you’d like to stake and confirm it. Once this is done, your tickets will be allocated to you automatically over time.

Step 1

Step 2 — When you’re ready to participate in the lottery, use the slider on the same page to choose how many tickets you’d like to bet. Here in this example you’ll see that I’ve chosen to bet just over 9 million tickets in this week’s lottery.

Hit the “Play” button to confirm your choice.

Step 2

Step 3 — If done right, the section on the right will then show how many tickets you’ve bet in the current week’s lottery.

Step 3

Step 4 — Finally, if you were lucky enough to become the winner of a Kryptomon egg, you’ll see an additional window near the top of the screen with a button to claim your prize!

Step 4

Frequently Asked Questions

How many tickets will I get if I stake X number of $KMON?
The simple answer is… no one knows! This is because the number of tickets you receive is dependent on the percentage of your KMON against the total amount of KMON in the pool.

Eg: If there are 100 KMON in the staking pool and you stake 1 KMON, you’ll receive 1% of the tickets.

As we’re unable to predict variables like:

  • How much KMON will be staked at any point in time
  • How often will people add or remove their KMON

It’s impossible to guarantee an answer that you’ll receive X tickets for every Y KMON staked.

                                                                                                                            .  .  .

Are there any minimum or maximum KMON amounts that I’m limited to when participating in the staking pool?
There is not! Feel free to stake as much or as little KMON as you like. Obviously, the more KMON you stake, the more tickets you’ll receive, which increases your chances of winning. But it’s still definitely possible that you play only 1 ticket and still walk away a winner!

                                                                                                                            .  .  .

When will winners be announced every week?
Winners will be announced every Sunday at 12am UTC! All tickets that were bet in that week’s lottery will then be burnt (regardless of whether you win or lose)

                                                                                                                            .  .  .

Are there any lock periods when I stake my KMON? Can I unstake them at any time?
There are no lock periods! Tickets are awarded on a block by block basis (every 3 seconds) so feel free to unstake all or part of your KMON at any time.

                                                                                                                            .  .  .

How many eggs will be given out as rewards per week?
This was addressed in the article. The simple answer is 10% of the number of participants in the lottery! Remember, it’s the number of lottery players (the number of unique wallets that have bet a ticket in this week’s lottery) and not the number of stakers.

This means that if in Week 1, 200 unique wallets chosen to play their tickets, then 20 eggs will be given out.

                                                                                                                            .  .  .

How many times can I win?
You can win once per week. If you’ve won in Week 1, it’s definitely still possible for you to win in Week 2 or Week 3. However, it is impossible for you to win twice in Week 1.

                                                                                                                            .  .  .

Closing Statement

$KMON staking will begin on the 10th of September 2021, but it’s important to note that all of the information above is still subject to change. While we believe we’ve come up with the most ideal balance between egg supply/demand and giving trainers an incentive to stake $KMON, we don’t pretend we have all the answers.

As always, our co-creation promise to you means that we’re still open to feedback from all our trainers. Do you think there’s a better rule that could be implemented in the egg lottery? Is there a loophole that we’ve missed that you know how to solve? Let us know via the usual social media channels and we might incorporate it into the rules before the lottery begins!

See you in game, fellow trainer.
